Last night there was a BBQ with a DJ, a band and later that night stand-up funny men. The night started with a free beer followed by a (not so free) hamburger with salad, a cookie, chips and a drink. The food was good and the music was swinging. There were a few local rappers and other talents who made the night swing. I also met some new people and will probably go to a bar somewhere to listen to some music with one of them next week.
Today I started the day with a five hour tour of Central Park. Far to little to view this 4 km2 park, but with a sturdy walk you'll get far. A number of things to notice about this park. There runs a road from north to south (and the other way around) which opens during rush hour to ease the load on car traffic. For all visitors of the park there are special underpasses to go underneath those roads to get to the other side without crossing traffic. Safe and practical. All the passages are created in their own style. There is one that is a arch made of stone blocks. No cement, just gravity to keep everything in place. The park also has four roads running underneath between west and east. That way the cars don't have to go all the way around the park and visitors are not bothered with traffic. What else... oh ja, four weddings, castles, turtles, squirrels, obelisks, different kind of lakes and much more (but you will see the pictures in a week or two when I get back home). They were also shooting a movie so we couldn't go everywhere and we had to take detours.
Tomorrow the Grand Tour of New York City is scheduled at 10 AM. We meet in the lobby and go on until midnight visiting sights. I'll better put my walking shoes on stand-by.
