Cycling with the Ketelbrothers
Last week I borrowed the Radical Design Cyclone Bicycle Trailer from Georg Dekkinga as preparation for my trip to Wuppertal (a week of Biblestudy in Germany with the subject: "A much better Covenant") and my participation in Euro Tour 2013. Last Saturday I packed up a few things (like my tent, sleeping gear and some clothes) in the trailer and cycled to my youngest brother Ewout in Stadskanaal. He is also going to Wuppertal and he is willing to bring this stuff.

Sailing on the Zuidlaardermeer
Last Saturday we went to the Zuidlaardermeer (the lake of Zuidlaren) with our improv theater club Ulteam. For me it was the first time on such a small boat. The weather was perfect with a few clouds and a decent wind.

'The big project'
I mentioned a big box and darkness before for 'the big project'. Last weekend it was finally time to finish it all. I've already bought six pieces of two meter long cable conduit and I've made an appointment with my parents (my dad is a construction worker) on Sunday. If you haven't noticed, 'the big project' is a home theater projection.
First we started to hang the screen. That starts with defining the exact place of the mounts.

Ice-Bat racing on natural ice
Last year I first sat/lay down on a Ice-Bat. And it was good fun! Then it had a big propellor on the back to push yourself forward. The current version has a rear wheel with a Marathon Winter tire with spikes. This makes you go faster because of the direct grip. This time we went for a nice little round on the Zuidlaardermeer. First a hour of cycling with Ocho to the starting location and then in the cold with the Ice-Bat. I forgot to bring my gloves (you don't need them in a velomobile), but I could borrow David and Steve their pair. Do you want to try a Ice-Bat? Sign up and come to Groningen, Assen or Heerenveen. Below you can see to movies and the track from my first ride. The first movie is my own and the second is David Hembrow his.

Feestboek was a success!
I never thought it would be this much work to organize a party. Get some games, order foot, rent the club, laptop, projector, profile stickers, drink vouchers, decorations, balloons, prizes for the games, music, Like stickers, to much to mention. And of course, promotion for the party. And of course not everything goes as plans. I received the stickers to print the profile stickers on and bought the paper for the vouchers and the home made memory game. Turns out my printer ink was empty. I quickly ordered a new cartridge and printed and cut everything the day before.

My very first TV appearance
It's about four years ago, but I want to share it with you anyway. My first appearance on national television. It was for the Christian station EO in their program LoveMatch (a variant of The Dating Game). Fun to participate, but I kind of look like a dork, am I right?

Nazca Fuego Top-Sport Edition for sale
The bike has been sold.
Are you going to sell another bike? Yes, but there is a good reason for that. The Nazca Fuego Top-Sport Edition was the first recumbent bike I bought some four years ago. With this bike I have had many adventures. We made our first 218 kilometer long monster ride, we attended the first Easter meeting and Autumn meeting, we went on a sailboat for a week, rode to Germany in two days (and back again with a total of 694 kilometers) and we did a one day tour of 314 kilometers around the IJsselmeer. Today there is just a bit more then 7.300 kilometers on the odometer. And that is not much. The last year and a half the bike stood in the shed most of the time. Only the last couple of days, since I've sold Velox Incendia, I've been riding it a bit more. It's being used for now, but still... I'm going to sell it. Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice bike, but a velomobile is just so easy and comfortable that this bike gets to little attention. And that's a pity. That's why I want to sell it so it's new owner can take it for a ride and somebody else can enjoy the pleasure of riding a recumbent.

Operation successful
I picked up my bike again yesterday after it went in for surgery last Wednesday. Unfortunately it cost around three hours to resolve the problem. The left rear LED light was defect and there was a break in the wire in front which caused both lights shine very dim. The indicator buzzer was attached a bit better and the original bike computer was put back in place. Why? Well, because I ordered a new bike and I put the old one up for sale.

Haywire
Because I was wondering last Friday who my visitors are I want to write about more subjects, other then recumbent bikes. I realize that it takes more time, but that's why I try to keep it brief and short. That will be more interesting for those who read it. And if you want to know more, there is always the possibility to leave a comment. Okay, back to the subject at hand: Haywire.
